After a quick decision going back to Malaysia to catch the deadline, me & my husband spent 3 hours packing my belongings & relevant documents overnight and he sent me to the Heathrow Airport very early in the morning..must be wondering why such a rush decision right..it was our neglegence for not properly checking the proccedure..ended up spending 1 month here to find out the proper procedure of how to go about registering a marriage in UK. The worst case is as usual, UK government has doubled the fees on visa application effective 1 Apr!
Well, can't blame them, there are more & more immigrants trying all ways to step foot in UK and being treated well by the government! This is to be elaborated later on.
Anyhow, it's still worth paying extra 100 pounds for changing of date and penalty charges instead of paying additional 300 pounds for the fiancee visa after 1 Apr!
Therefore, my advise to those couples in love and wish to migrate and register in UK, do a proper checking and better to apply for any visa before April of every year.
Reached airport about 7am, everywhere is full of people, I was with my check-in & handcarry luggage standing there like a sombie, waiting for the ticketing counter to be opened then. It was a 50-50 chance to get the ticket, the flight might be full but very likely that there will be drop out, disappearing themselves in England, somewhere somehow!
Finally the counter was opened at 8am, the staff seems to be friendly but they were very busy, I was relief when noticed that not only myself but total of 9 passengers were on standby...
They took our details & asked us to come back at 11.30am, during then, the check-in counter would be closed and they would know how many seats was available.
I was consoling myself, don't worry, at least there is a chance and worst come to worst, it will be a day tour to Heathrow, I can afford to waste half a day waiting for my ticket. After scouting around, I decided to have breakfast in one of the airport's restaurant, decent looking, quiet & relax; I have ordered a full English Breakfast, this probably is the most expensive breakfast I ever had so far.
The watch shown 11.00am, I was getting impatient and walk towards the counter..oh my god, apparently the rest are as impatient as myself! All of them gathered at the area, waiting for the airline to close the check-in counter...finally, time has come..the staff started allocating the seats one by one, infact I was the 2nd last person to get my seat confirmed but I am very sure that I am the first one which was standing at the area waiting! Anyhow, it doesn't matter now, as long as I have my confirm seat going back to Malaysia in 13 hours time..
It was really a rush trying to get to the gate, the watch was showing 11.40am and I have a plane to catch at 12pm! It was a really long queue at the custom clearance..I won't be able to make it on time! Nervously, I walked straight to a customs officer & told him about my situation, I was given special treatment! Thank goodness he allowed me to use the special lane and I was cleared from the customs within minutes!
It was a long way to the departure gate and I was really running, not even manage to claim VAT for the LV bags bought from Selfridges, I was sweating, how I wish I could have a pair of long leg to run faster...the gate was nearer & nearer...16, 17, 19 & oh yes, I made it! Gate 20 was just about 20 feet away, I made it at 5 minutes to 12pm! Hang on, something is not right, the corridor was full of people, infact it was a long queue right in front of the gate! The flight was delayed, everybody was waiting to be checked to enter the waiting room, I was in the dilema, should I turn back and run to the VAT counter or should I queue up & wait? Took a deep breath, I decided, no turning back my dear..forget about the VAT, you already got the bags cheaper by 20% comparing to Malaysia price, don't create any hastle, you can't afford to miss the flight..very important thing need to be done still, calling my beloved husband!
Finally the flight took off at 12.30pm, I was in the plane and still thinking about what was happening ever since I reached the airport...I can't sleep throughout the whole journey which seems to be abnormal as I am really fast asleep no matter what mode of transport taking; maybe I am just too excited to be back to my country, a country which I have been living for 4 decades.
